Zee Kannada, the channel known for producing a variety of popular programmes, is all set to host its annual Kutumba Awards. The awards ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 22. The venue is the National College Grounds, Basavanagudi. A total of 21 awards will be given in various categories to those who have worked on Zee Kannada’s daily soaps, reality shows and other programmes.
Zee Kannada, which is now in its seventh year, was the first channel to organize an awards ceremony exclusively for the small screen. This year, the theme of the Zee Kutumba Awards is ‘Relationships.’ In keeping with the theme, the categories are also based in family values; for instance, best family, best son, best daughter, etc.
“Zee Kannada introduced the concept of awards ceremonies for families of the small screen. It is our duty to honour every single person who has contributed to the growth of our channel. The process was completely transparent. The jury for the first stage comprised director Indrajit Lankesh, journalist Gudihalli Nagaraj, and actor Aparna. The jury watched scenes from all of Zee Kannada’s shows, and created a shortlist. The second stage was judged by Girish Kasaravalli, T N Seetharam, P Sheshadri Pooja Gandhi and Archana Udupa. Their decision will be taken into account along with the votes we have received via the internet and SMS,” said Dr Gautham Machaiah, Executive Vice-President, Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Limited.
Actors Ragini, Yajna Shetty and Ragini will perform at the ceremony, along with stars from Zee Kannada’s shows. Rajesh Krishnan, Gurukiran and Archana Udupa will deliver a special musical performance. The programme will be attended by several stars from the film industry, and promises to be an absolute entertainer.
