DISCOVERY CHANNEL PAYS HOMAGE TO MOTHER TERESA ON HER CENTENARY BIRTH ANNIVERSARY
New Delhi, August 18, 2010: To commemorate the Centenary Celebrations of Mother Teresa, a compassionate saint and a legend of our times, Discovery Channel will premiere an exclusive programme, MOTHER TERESA – SAINT OF DARKNESS. The one-hour docu-drama will explore her enigmatic personality, her devotion and work for the humanity.
MOTHER TERESA – SAINT OF DARKNESS features rare archival footage of her life, together with original recordings of her speeches and her selfless dedication to the service of mankind. The programme highlights Mother Teresa’s pivotal contribution to the service of the poor and needy, above the social distinctions of class, caste, community and religion.

Through its programme MOTHER TERESA – SAINT OF DARKNESS, Discovery Channel chronicles her epic journey in seeking God’s love through selfless service to ease human suffering. The programme captures the life of Mother Teresa as a humble nun, an ambassador of charity, an emissary of peace and showcases her dedication to service the poorest of the poor finally resulting in her envisioning the Missionaries of Charity. The programme dwells on her mission to fight against human suffering with superhuman endeavour, as well as raising a voice against social and political issues.
Featuring exclusive interviews and personal accounts of people associated with her, MOTHER TERESA – SAINT OF DARKNESS traces Mother Teresa’s spiritual journey. Ace photographer Raghu Rai narrates Mother’s inner struggle as depicted through one of her portraits; Father Joseph Neuner, Mother Teresa´s confessor describes her spiritual depth; psychiatrist Margot Schmitz recounts her identification with God, describing as “so strong that not even a sheet of paper could fit between her and God”; and Sister Andrea, Mother Teresa’s counsellor, divulges that it was important for Mother to see God in every person.
