Bangalore, 8th December, 2010: Zee Kannada is proud to present a Brand New Cookery Show titled ‘Oggarane Dabbi’ (the Spice Box) from 13th of December, 2010. The show will be telecast every Monday to Friday at 1 pm and is designed exclusively for the women of Karnataka.

A complete change from the previous Cookery show, ‘Oggarane Dabbi’ aims at traveling to different locations and exploring local cuisines in their very place of origin. The show shall in the process bring out the essence of the land and hundreds of tales that each kitchen plays host to. From the coastal belt of Mangalore to the lush green terrain of Coorg, from the arid plains of North Karnataka to the rich paddy fields of Mandya, ‘Oggarane Dabbi’ will showcase cuisines from across the state, thereby helping preserve the age old recipes for posterity. It is a simple show with no frills attached. The focus is on cooking with ingredients available in a woman’s kitchen.

“Zee is a pioneer in Cookery shows with ‘Khana Khazana’ having become a household name. Zee Kannada’s ‘Oggarane Dabbi’ will bring to our viewers the most authentic cuisine of Karnataka right from their place of origin” Mr. Gautham Machaiah, Zee’s south head has stated.

Every episode would have 5 segments starting with a tasting session at a famous restaurant followed by 2 segments being shot at localites’ houses, 1 segment with a famous chef talking about quick meals and ending with Ammana Kairuchi which would talk about simple dishes of these local cuisines.

About The Anchor Likith Shetty : He has acted in a Kannnada movie named ”PAROLE” as a Hero which is produced by Mr.Suresh URS and Directed by Mr.Rajshekar, he have also been a Video Jockey from October 1st 2007 in Udaya 2 Music channel (Sun networks), has completed his Diploma In Theater from NAVARASA SCHOOL OF ART-Bangalore , and has also done Still ads and short film named “MAYAN” Directed and produced by Mr.Roy.

    hi, I am knew to cooking. Kindly give recipes for south Indian vegetarian tasty Sambars and Rasam .Requesting Lalitha Amma to teach the above.I watch the show every day and write down the recipes without fail and it is a great help to me.

    Hi I am from Dubai born and brought up in Mumbai and native place is Mangalore but sorry to say I dont know Kannada but I see your Oggarane Dabbi on Zee Kannad at 11.30 am dubai time. but the problem is i cant understand few words in ingredients. it would be better if you translate and show.
    It will be highly appreciated.
