Sony Entertainment Television (SET) India, the undisputed number four Hindi GEC, will launch the third season of the reality dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3, every Friday and Saturday at 9.00 pm, starting February 27.

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3 brings together celebrities from different walks of life such as sports, films, fashion, music and magic to perform with professional dance partners on a competitive stage. The contestants will perform before a live studio audience and the entire viewing public. They will dance with the same amount of professionalism that made them achievers they are today.

The third season has twelve personalities like the Mohinder Amarnath (with Lilian), Parul Chauhan (with Deepak), Ram Kapoor (with Marischa),Gauhar Khan (with Hanif), Karan Singh Grover with (Nicole), Bhagyashree (with Toby), Ugesh Sarcar (with Tina), Monica Bedi (with Javed), Shilpa Shukla (with Nishant), Anand Raj Anand (with Rozita) and Hard Kaur (with Savio).

It’s an all woman panel of judges this year with Saroj Khan, Juhi Chawla and Vaibhavi Merchant. The dance show will be hosted by Shweta Tiwari and Shiv Pandit, who will be instrumental in motivating the celebrity-choreographer duos week after week. It is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions India.

Albert Almeida, executive vice-president and business head, SET India, said, “The show, now in its third season, will enthrall the audience not only with power-packed performances but also keep the viewers glued to their television sets to watch some fascinating moves that will change the image of these popular celebrities.”

Saul Nassé, general manager and creative head, BBC Worldwide Productions, says, “There is no country better suited to its fantastic mix of amazing dancing and compelling celebrity stories than India. But we never stand still with this show, and this year we have a whole host of surprises up our sleeves to keep viewers entertained.”

Gurdip Bhangoo, programming head, SET India, said, “This glamorous show is not just about the usual suspects going through all-too-familiar routines, but about the performance of public figures who are not trained dancers, and the fantastic journey they undertake to prove themselves.”

The show whose format is owned by BBC, has been a success across 27 countries like Britain, America, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, to name a few. A global success, countries ranging from Chile and Israel to Russia and China broadcast their versions of the format. The American version has consistently won high ratings for ABC.

It maybe noted that about three years ago, and before it was pushed to the number three slot by Zee TV, SET India was the clear number two channel, just behind Star Plus. After the advent of newer channels such as NDTV Imagine, 9X and Colors, the channel had to give up its number three position too.
